Should I Order a .com or a .org?
Excellent question! As you know the .com is generally for companies and the .org is for non-profit organizations.Regardless of whether you are a business or organization, I always recommend that if you are a company, get the .com. Absolutely.
If you are a non-profit or organization, you definitely need to get the .org If the .com is available too, get it! Why?
1. Because believe it or not, there are people that do nothing but wait around to snag up domain names. Their intentions are to sell them back to you at an outrageous price!
2. A .com is considered a top domain level it also holds a higher monetary value.
3. If the .com is available and you don't get it, someone could purchase it and you may not like what their site is about.
4. Because the .com is more common, chances are people will type in .com after your domain name anyway!
So what do we recommend? If you are financially able then GET BOTH!

Can I have more than one domain name for my website?
You can have as many domain names as you like. You can have each domain name point to a different site, or you can have multiple domain names point to the same Web site OR to different page within the same Web site. Many companies register several domain names and have them all point to the same central Web site. This is known as a domain alias.Registering multiple domain names for the same site not only brings the largest draw to your site but it also can prevent competitors from poaching your potential customers. When picking multiple domain names or aliases for the same site, consider variations of your name such as common misspellings as well as both singular and plural versions of the name.
What is a DNS
DNS stands for "Domain Name Server". It translates domain names into IP addresses that computers understand. For example, if someone wants to access your website (www.yourdomain.com), the DNS will translate the domain into the IP address 200.055.12.100, which will allow the computer to locate our web server
I just registered a domain name and it is showing as available!
Of course! It will take between 24-48 hours for DNS propagation. DNS propagation is the process by which the computers on the Internet update their records (DNS tables) to reflect new site name(s). When this is complete, your name can be accessed and recognized on the Internet.
Are there any restrictions on what name I can register?
Domain names are generally registered on a first-come, first-served basis. Provided a name is not already registered and comprises a maximum of 64 letters and hyphens, it can probably be registered. However, registrations that conflict with existing trade marks can be taken before a dispute resolution body or a court by the trade mark holder and may be cancelled or transferred.
Why should I register a domain name?
Registering a domain name for your business or organization is essential to your marketing efforts. A domain gives your business credibility and a unique identity on the World Wide Web.
What will happen if I transfer my domain name?
Transfers are a multi-step process. After you complete your order, the following happens:1. You'll recieve an e-mail confirmation to the current administrative contact of the domain.
2. When you approve the confirmation, the transfer request is sent to the current registrar.
3. If the current registrar has no valid reason to deny the transfer, they approve it.
4. When Hosting Stargate receives the approval, the registrar transfer is initiated.
5. When the transfer is complete, the name servers will stay the same.
We will notify you that the transfer is complete.
What is a URL?
URL stands for Univesal Resource Locator. Some people refer to it as a web address (although URL is not limited to the web). An example of a URL is http://www.yourdomain.com. Please note that a URL is a unique identifier. No two websites can have the same URL. This is the reason why you should register your domain name before someone else does.
What is an IP address?
Every computer on the Internet has a numeric address called IP-Address that is used to identify the location of the computer. An example of an IP address is 200.000.11.500. This kind of addressing system is cumbersome and hard to remember for humans. Having a domain name will eliminate the need to remember an IP address.

How do domain names work?
Registering a domain doesn't automatically make your Web site appear when visitors enter your domain into a Web browser. You have to upload your Web site to a computer that hosts the site and assigns a numeric address, called an IP address, to your domain. Your domain and associated IP address are stored in a database with every other domain and associated IP address. When visitors enter your domain into a Web browser, your domain works like an address forwarding service by forwarding visitors to the IP address where your Web site is stored. We use domain names instead of IP addresses because most people find it easier to remember a name rather than a series of numbers. When you register a domain, you do not have to create and upload a Web site. You can also park it.
For new .COM and NET domains and updates, it may take up to eight hours for changes to become effective. It may take up to 48 hours for changes made to all other domain extensions to become effective. This is because of the number of networks and agencies involved. Delays apply to all domains and registrars. Allow for this delay when planning Web sites or configuring a domain to work with your email.
